    Izu is a dwarf tree that bears excellent, medium-sized non-astringent fruit. It has good disease resistance and ripens early in September. Bears only female flowers, so few seeds. Good commercial cultivar. Hardy to 0 degrees F.

    Foliage: Beautiful red-purple color in fall, deciduous (seasonally loses leaves)

    Fertilization: New trees planted in the winter won’t need fertilizer (balanced time released 10-10-10 fertilizer or Espoma Tree Tone Organic) until April or May.
